U14 Girls South Champions
coached by Selena Rovinski and Amy Cardone

The U13 girls ended their season on a high note after winning the U14 south division at the Portsmouth Invitational with a 4-0 record. After a tough Superliga season in the U14 Anchor division, in which the team played well in every game but couldn't get the result they wanted, this was a much deserved win. The girls were able to show how much they had improved due to playing "up". Well done to the entire team for playing hard right till the end.

After 4 very competitive games in the tournament, in which the defense and goalies were very good, winning two games 1-0 and tying a third game 2-2, the BGYSA “U9” Girls made it into the playoff round as the fourth seed.  The girls had to face a tough, first seeded Pawtucket team in the semi-finals; the same team BGYSA had tied earlier.  They played their best game yet against Pawtucket, beating them 3-2, to make it into the finals.  They fell short, 2-0 in the Championship game against a great team from Northbridge, but the BGYSA U9 Girls far exceeded expectations by making it to the finals and playing extremely well in the tournament.

BGYSA U12 Girls
Session 1 Indoor Champions
at the Habitat

The team placed 4th in the overall standings for the first session and  had to play an unbeaten Uxbridge team in the semifinal game.
The BGYSA team played an amazing game against Uxbridge.  BGYSA had a narrow lead throughout most of the game until Uxbridge tied the score with only minutes remaining.  The BGYSA team fought hard in the closing seconds to score the winning goal with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation.  The team next faced Lincoln in the final game.  BGYSA had not beaten Lincoln during the regular season however the hustle and team tactics exhibited during the semifinal game carried over into the final and BGYSA scored early and often to win the championship.

BGYSA U12 Girls

Hab Winter Tournament 2008 Champions

The team started slowly with two losses but won the next two regular games to make the playoffs.  In the first playoff game, the score was tied at the end of regulation.  Neither team could score during the “golden goal” overtime period so the game had to be decided on penalty kicks.  Great goal tending and well placed penalty kicks won the game for BGYSA placing them in the finals.  The BGYSA girls played a great final game winning the championship during regulation.
